Brachi commitment to ZDHC

Companies' support to Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals program is growing every day

Brachi Testing Services is one of the seven new members of Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC), the international association of companies in the fashion industry - from textile to clothing, from leather to footware... - that decided to work together to reduce the use of chemicals in production so as to protect workers, consumers and the environment.

By joining the ZDHC Program, brands and businesses agree to strengthen their commitment to better chemical management through the implementation of tools such as the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) or the Wastewater Guidelines.

«It's a major change that brands and suppliers can not reach on their own », ZDHC executive director Frank Michael explained.  « Defining common standards, collaborating as a founding principle, implementing shared practices ... are all key factors are all key factors to successfully move forward our program».

A fundamental step in this direction was the launch of the Chemical Module, an open database with information on chemicals, an online search tool that will help chemical buyers choose the safest options available on the market.

«Beyond the legitimate dream of freeing the world from dangerous chemicals, we need to pull together to achieve concrete results», said Giulio Lombardo, Sales and Marketing Director at Brachi.
«ZDHC stands out as a working table of all the players involved - brands, suppliers, chemical manufacturers, laboratories and inspection bodies - each called to provide its own input for creating shared work tools, methodologies and protocols.

Hence the decision to engage as a contributor of ZDHC in order to develop new analysis methods and sustainable solutions together with other laboratories».
